Description
For centuries, chaste berry has been used for various conditions of concern to women. In fact, it was frequently recommended in the writings of Hippocrates and Dioscorides and is still the most commonly used botanical used in Europe to address premenstrual syndrome. It is sometimes combined with black cohosh or dong quai.
Although the herb does not contain phytoestrogens or other hormone-like agents, it does stimulate the pituitary gland to increase production of luteinizing hormone (LH), which signals the ovaries to produce more progesterone.
Infuse chaste berry powder in carrier oil to make salves, ointments and other topical formulations.

safety Due to possible hormonal effects, do not use this herb during pregnancy, while breastfeeding or if you have a history of a hormone-driven condition.
