It has been used for centuries in Russia and Scandinavia to counter the stressful effects of living at high-altitudes and cold temperatures can have on physical stamina and resistance to illness. It has also held a place of reverence in the traditional system of medicine in China, where the herb is known as hina h?ng j?ng ti?n.

This herb may interfere or with several prescription medications, including immunosuppressants, antihypertensive drugs, antidiabetes drugs, P-glycoprotein substrates and CYP2C9 substrates. Do not use in conjunction with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), anti-anxiety medications or other psychotropic drugs unless under the supervision of a prescribing physician. Avoid during pregnancy and lactation.
