Ginseng (Chinese, white – Panax ginseng

Powdered Chinese white ginseng is made from the peeled and dried roots of Korean ginseng, also called Asian ginseng. This is a different species from American or Siberian ginseng, but is related to and shares similar properties with American ginseng. Use in tea blends and to produce extracts and tinctures. May also be encapsulated as a dietary supplement. Panax ginseng, also known as Asian ginseng, is related to the American ginseng but, as the common name suggests, is native to Asia. Because the herb is also cultivated for commercial purposes in China and Korea, this species is also frequently referred to as Chinese or Korean ginseng.

Although this species of ginseng shares a similar chemical composition with its American cousin, it differs in character. Panax ginseng is considered more aligned with yang energy, indicating it has warm, energizing properties.
