Description
Native Americans used the leaf of the plant to make poultices and the tough rootstock to make herbal decoctions for use as tea. Dried stone root also yields a dark reddish-brown dye. Decoct to make infusions, tonics and syrups. The root may also be tinctured. Stone root was used to address ?preacher?s sore throat,? or what would equate to strained vocal cords that public speakers sometimes suffer today.
